Common Applications Of Aluminium Metal

Aluminium has some unique qualities that make it suitable for a wide range of uses. For one, it is very light. Secondly, it is rust resistant. Thirdly, the metal's oxide has a very high melting point. It is also a very good conductor of heat and electricity. 


Compared to other types of metals, it is much cheaper. Its ore is readily found in the earth's crust. The metal can be recycled over and over again with little or no effect whatsoever on its properties. Through anodizing, aluminium can acquire brilliant colours that can help to improve the aesthetic appeal of aluminium products.

Due to its lightweight nature and high electrical as well as thermal conductivity, aluminium is normally used to make high voltage over-head power lines. It is also used to make frames and housing for electronic devices due to its lightweight nature. Modern vehicles like boats, trains, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, vans and aircraft are also made using aluminium. Beer, soda and energy drink cans are also made from this metal. This means that they can be found in every sphere of life.

In the construction industry, aluminium is used to make casement windows, sliding doors, shop fronts and double glazing units. In powdered form, the metal can be used to make paint products. The metal can be used as solid rocket fuel when in powdered form. In sports, the metal is used to make baseball bats. Many utensils in a typical home are made from this metal. Due to its special attributes, the metal is finding new uses every day. For instance, modern guitars are usually made from this metal. Aluminium can be found in street lighting poles, walking poles and sailing ship masts.

 Aluminium is a good conductor of heat. It is normally used as a heat sink in computer motherboards. Electronic components like voltage regulator ICs usually emit a lot of heat energy, so heat sinks are usually installed to conduct the heat away. This helps to prevent the IC from overheating and malfunctioning. It is important to note that almost every electrical appliance has a voltage regulator in its power supply unit.
