1. Aluminium Causes Condensation

Today's aluminium windows offer the same, or lower, U values as wood or PVCu windows. It all depends on the product's design and the specification of the glass used.

2. You Must Install Hardwood Subframes

Some aluminium windows are designed for installation in hardwood subframes, but you are not limited to existing wood frames if you prefer something different. You have options. Windows systems are available for fitting into stone mullions, stone frames or hardware frames.

3. The External Beading on Aluminium Windows Make Them Less Secure

This is probably the most inaccurate myth about aluminium windows. As long as the product meets the performance standards of Secure by Design, or some other testing institute, externally beaded windows are perfectly secure. It is impossible to remove external beads without first removing internal gaskets. You can purchase aluminium windows with internal beading if that is what you prefer.

4. Aluminium Costs More Than Double What PVCu Costs

Price depends on the following factors:

• The supplier
• The supplier's experience
• Whether aluminium is an upgrade
• If the supplier mainly supplies PVCu windows
• The cheap cost of some PVCu windows
